We're Alive!

Hello everyone,


It’s been almost a month since we left our apartment and began this adventure. We aren't dead! Touring China and enjoying boating and relaxation in Italy made us forget how quickly the days have gone by. July went by in a blink. We've had very limited access to WiFi in China and in Bardolino, Italy.


We are now mid-way through our first Workaway experience, trading about 25 hours of work per week for free accommodation and all meals. We are in Apricale, working our host family's land, building a terraced garden. Pictures to come. I'm going to try to get two posts up: one with photos from China, and one with some photos of boating relaxing, and riding E-bikes in Garda/Bardolino, Italy.
After August 15th, we are headed to Nice, France and Barcelona, Spain on our own for about two weeks. We'll have more regular and free WiFi areas in Europe, we’ll get back on track with more posts :) and we will also be back on WhatsApp/Facebook to do video calls and get back in touch with everyone.





But, in the meantime, just wanted to let everyone know we are alive, and having a blast being disconnected--catch up with everyone soon!

    Nice to read your post and see your pictures. You both look very happy and relaxed. I bet time is going fast for you both. Before you know it you'll be back in Wisconsin shoveling snow.... lol. Looking forward to your next post - Will toast you both at the Great Taste this Saturday :)

    I think I speak for all of us reading this discretely at work in our cubicles... SO JEALOUS!!! What an amazing experience for you both and I can't wait to hear more. Soak this experience in! Soon enough, you'll be back in the White Whip and I'll be yelling at you to put your seat-belt on before I hear the damn dinging one more time! ;) Love and miss you both.

Oh, hi there family and friends. If you're reading this you've probably heard that we have, again, resigned our jobs, sold most of our things and are on the road again! Unemployment Looms...Adventure Awaits

Hello family, friends, co-workers! The day's here and we're both embarking on our year of travel and adventure! We are so fortunate to be able to do this, and we both wanted to make a space we could share updates, photos, videos, thoughts along our journey. But first some questions: Why are you doing this?! We want to see the world at a slower pace than rushing through a vacation would allow. We're still young, healthy, free from any huge obligations, and most importantly--able to sleep on crummy hostel mattresses. So the time is never perfect to make a change, but, if we waited, "someday" could easily slip away. How are you doing this? Oktoberfest- Munich, Germany

*photos at the bottom* EIN PROSIT! Munich, we made it! After getting situated at our hotel, Linds and Emily went into the city to look for a dirndl--the traditional Bavarian women’s attire. They found one for Emily. Elisa, our German friend was kind enough to give Lindsey her’s to wear for the festival. After getting our bearings. We made our game plan for the next day, arrive early and scope out a table. We did not have reservations, so you have to walk up and stake your claim early. Nothing like an 11am one-liter beer! Prost! Another spoiler alert, drinking 6% beer in one-liter servings catches up with you fast. We were done before dinner time. We had three liters, and I’m not exactly sure how we made it back to the hotel :) it felt like we were back in college!
