Unemployment Looms...Adventure Awaits
Hello family, friends, co-workers!
The day's here and we're both embarking on our year of travel and adventure! We are so fortunate to be able to do this, and we both wanted to make a space we could share updates, photos, videos, thoughts along our journey.
But first some questions:
We want to see the world at a slower pace than rushing through a vacation would allow. We're still young, healthy, free from any huge obligations, and most importantly--able to sleep on crummy hostel mattresses.
So the time is never perfect to make a change, but, if we waited, "someday" could easily slip away.
Maxing out our credit cards and payday loans, why do you think we're leaving the country? ...Just kidding!!*
Actually, It turns out Lindsey and I are both decent at being cheapskates and were able to pay off our college debt and save some money. We also will use an awesome service similar to AirBnB, to volunteer and do homestays along the way to cut down costs.
We've got a itinerary somewhat locked down. We've planned and pre-booked more from July-October 2018, we are working through specifics after October as we go.
July 2018-
China (Urumqi, Nalati, Shanghai)
August 2018-
Italy (Rome, Lake Garda, Milan, Ventimiglia, Apricale)
September 2018-
Switzerland (The Alps: Murren, Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken, Bern)
September/October 2018-
Germany (Dusseldorf, Cologne, Munich/Oktoberfest)
Early October 2018-
Iceland (10 days in campervan, hoping to catch the northern lights)
Late October/November 2018-
Balkan Countries, to avoid becoming illegal immigrants in the European Union (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, maybe more)
December 2018-
Back to the States for Christmas, family events, and one month maximum of snow
January 2019/Mid-2019-
Travel through Central/South America. Traveling more slowly, getting an apartment or more "stationary" address, procure an income of sorts.
Stay tuned for more! We are lucky to have you in our lives and are excited to share our journey with you!
*Kidding about the debt part--Credit card bonuses did help us fund this, I'll probably write something up about that as a filler at a later date, but don't want to scare everyone off with nerdery too early ;)
