Road Trippin’ España Style: Beaches, Wine, Tapas, and a Convertible


As most of you know, Spain has a big place in my heart, and now Ryan’s. It was great to visit places I have already been, see new places, and to get to do it with Ryan!  In order to save my fingers, your eyes, and let you get back to your Netflix, or work (suckers!! ;) ) We have decided to give you our basic itinerary and we will give you a few highlights we really enjoyed. If you supply us with enough beer and wine at Christmas, we might give you alllll the dirty details, haha!

Basic Itinerary driving the Lil’ Fiatch (Fiat 500 convertible- free upgrade, we didn’t pick it, it picked us):

3 days Barcalona- Stayed with Mauro and Luz, a wonderful couple who we hope to cross pathes with in the future, AirBnb
1 day Valencia- Kind of Creepy Uncle AirBnb
2 days Alicante- Great location, kind hosts, AirBnb
1 day Granada- Hostal (mix between hostel and hotel) All night trumpet player out our window
2 days Sevilla- Black Swan Hostel, would reccomend, except for the loud, drunk Brit.
1 day in Cordoba- 1000 yr. Old estate house, beautiful stay, and cheap! Very hot- 107 F.

Total distance: 946 miles
Total Time: 18 hours and 48 minutes (includes our own detours and pit stops along the way)

(Then train and bus to our next work away)

Drum roll please! And now the highlights....

Everything about Barcelona: The beaches, Gaudi’s work, Las Ramblas, Lolea Restaurant, Paradiso Speakeasy, Churros. Festa Mejor de Gracia****

During our drive to Valencia we stopped at a national park in Peniscola.

Alicante- The Beach, Beer at Tacobell, and our first experience at D'Tabla.

Leaving Alicante, on our way to Granada we stopped at this Pink Salt Lake.

Granada- Sierra Nevadas, Sneaking into the Alhambra.

Sevilla- Plaza de Espana, Las Setas, Sitting watching the bridge, Queso Frito, Tinto de Verano.

Cordoba- Mosque de Mezquita, 1000 yr. old estate house, sweatiest night of our lives with barbie dream house sized ceiling fan.

Hello family, friends, co-workers! The day's here and we're both embarking on our year of travel and adventure! Travel v2.0 oops we did it again

Oh, hi there family and friends. If you're reading this you've probably heard that we have, again, resigned our jobs, sold most of our things and are on the road again! Many of you have asked the why, when and where's. So let's give this another go, huh? Backpack travel is something we both hold dear. And the older we get, the more we realize the technicalities of backpack travel become fractionally less fun. The time is now to see some new places, meet people, eat food, unplug and slow down. We're ~1,730 weeks into the 4,000 weeks we get on this spinning rock--if we're lucky. We want to experience everything we can while we're still mobile and healthy. So hopefully you're nodding your head and not shaking your fist in the air at us lazy millennials. The next question you might have is when does this begin and when does it end?  We have one answer: next week! No time like now. We are keeping the end open. Budapest, Hungary

Buda & Pest We took the day bus into Budapest. Flixbus again, our favorite, :) the short daytime buses are not too bad actually. After we arrived in Hungary, we headed toward our hostel. A party hostel, ranked #1 in Budapest, with crazy reviews and a room called "Anal Room" (which we laughed about and were NOT interested in hanging out in for the record), this hostel claimed to party all day and all night with events, outings, and upon confirmation of your room you were consenting to shots, drinks, and fun at every breathing second. We were both excited to try out a wild hostel, since they have age limits and we are both approaching the cut off. Shhhhhh, lets not remind us of that fact. Well... It turned out to be tamer than we both expected since it is currently the off season, so our nerves and excitement weren't for much.
