Croatia: After squeezing out one more evening (and one liter of beer) at Oktoberfest we boarded our sleeper train at 11pm. We got super lucky on two fronts: 1.) The SLEEPER CAR tickets were only $20 more than the dreaded FlixBus and 2.) We had the entire sleeper car to ourselves. Another perk of European trains, the 2nd class sleeper cars have a door that locks--we were able to lock our car while we slept and get some great sleep. I dreamed about the relative luxury we enjoyed compared to buses :). Well rested, we arrived in Zagreb, Croatia the next morning. The road trip begins! We took a small “urban hike” to the car rental agency from the train station and got to see most of downtown Zagreb. Ok, in retrospect we probably should have taken the train, but all worked out. *photos at the bottom* EIN PROSIT! Munich, we made it! After getting situated at our hotel, Linds and Emily went into the city to look for a dirndl--the traditional Bavarian women’s attire. They found one for Emily. Elisa, our German friend was kind enough to give Lindsey her’s to wear for the festival. After getting our bearings. We made our game plan for the next day, arrive early and scope out a table. We did not have reservations, so you have to walk up and stake your claim early. Nothing like an 11am one-liter beer! Prost! Another spoiler alert, drinking 6% beer in one-liter servings catches up with you fast. We were done before dinner time. We had three liters, and I’m not exactly sure how we made it back to the hotel :) it felt like we were back in college! *photos at the bottom* Switzerland After an overnight train with our own 6-seat compartment, we woke up in Interlaken. Our friend, Emily, from the US was set to join us a couple hours later, so we got breakfast and waited for her train to arrive. We were so excited to see her and have another person to travel with. After meeting up--all on time--score one for Swiss punctuality!--we began our trip into the mountains. First a train from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen, then a bus into Stechelberg for two nights at a cute bed and breakfast. The mountains. were. breathtaking. We had a view of the mountains and an alpine waterfall from our corner room. There air was crisp and clean, we were excited to get to spend some time in nature. But,  before nature, we had to fill our stomachs! We knew Switzerland was expensive, and we quickly confirmed that at dinner.
